What is the purpose of obtaining uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage?

Transcript

The purpose of obtaining uninsured or underinsured motorist covering in Florida is to compensate you for damages if the at-fault party does not have liability insurance. Keep in mind that in Florida there is no requirement that people who own motor vehicles or drive motor vehicles carry liability insurance. Florida is one in three states in the entire country that does not require liability insurance. This puts a heavy burden on you and your family to make sure that you have insurance in the event that a non-insured at-fault driver causes injury or damage to you. I highly recommend to all of my clients that they seriously consider getting uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage as soon as possible.
